Apparently Arsene Wenger commented the other day that rather than Arsenal being in demise, (potentially leading to them dropping out of the big four), it was in fact that the rest of the league is getting stronger. While the rest of us can hope of course, it did get me to wonder on what other ramifications there might be. For example, the loss of what has become almost expected income from participation in the Champions League. We know of the much publicised disparity between the PL and the Championship for example, to the extent that clubs are cushioned (pampered?) by so-called Parachute Payments. What if Arsenal or Chelsea (please!) finished fith or 6th? Would they start bleating that they also needed compensation? Far fetched maybe, but stranger things have been known...... - ant_wsc
