Having no money and for want of anything better to do, I was watching 'They Came From Manchester' on BBC4 last night. It was more or less a series of performances from Manchester bands over the last forty or so years in pretty much chronological order. Eventually, it got to 1989, and The Stone Roses came on, doing 'Fools Gold' on Top of the Pops. My lovely girlfriend started muttering something about not being able to understand a word that Ian Brown was singing, and that it was just noise. Fair enough, but I distinctly remember watching that performance 19 years ago, and my parents saying the same stuff, word for word! Fair put a shiver down my spine, I can tell you! Anyone ever had any similar flashbacks?
