I did like the phrase 'landfill indie '.

Sure, but he's talking about a festival which featured British Sea Power, Glasvegas, Blondie, Grinderman, Franz Ferdinand, The Go! Team, Lykke Li, Black Kids, Heloise & The Savoir Faire, The Irrepressibles, Joanna Newsom, Crystal Castles and Interpol.

And a festival that one could easily justify the ticket price for, without intending to see a single band.

His statement about them taking water from people at the arena entrance just wasn't true, either.

Jelbert is a grumpy old sod but he does make me laugh.

The trouble is: we said we weren't going to do live reviews, just more concept pieces and he's the only one pitching stuff like this to us, so there it is.

I'm having 'issues' with what I was promised for the site and what it's actually turned out to be. I've got the vague feeling I'm treading on thin ice though. Just be aware that all of this stuff is frustrating me a lot more than it's frustrating you.

I'm trying to encourage people to debate stuff on the message boards but I'm wasting my fucking time when people don't know they're there and can't fucking sign up for them.

He lifted 'landfill indie' off Ian Harrison from the Word to be honest. A cracking and apposite term.

So, part 1 of my epic Manics-on-Heavenly interview is up now on The Quietus. Part 2 to follow tomorrow. Bloody long, but - I hope - interesting.

I don't just want to pop up and say "that was good" after every Quietus update, but as a Manics fan, that was a treat for a Monday morning. Cheers, SR.

Great stuff, SR.

JDB seems far more loquacious than NW in that interview, strangely. Though you can tell how fond the memories are for him.

Yeah, it's true. James has become a much better interviewee over the years, and on this occasion he was on better form than Wire.

Yep, very good stuff indeed. Best of all, it's introduced me to "It's On" by Flowered Up, which I'd never heard before but which turns out to be bloody great.

Oh yeah, that's an amazing song! MGMT remind me of it, in a weird way.

Errr... Time to appear daft again!

That group - MGMT. How do you pronounce their name? Y'see, I've always just called them 'Management', as if it's meant to be an abbreviation. (I think I must have seen those letters used as an abbreviation for just that, sometime.) Is that the case, or is it just M - G - M - T?

Sorry for the distraction.
