I met Philip Hensher once, he was really sweet. This brings the total of booker long/shortlisted people I know vaguely to 2. Not really a clang more of a subdued 'ting' perhaps.

I heard about this yesterday for the first time. Am I to take your somewhat cryptic post as a recommendation?

Not really, unless you count being on the booker longlist (DYSWIDT?) as being recommendation in and of itself.

Nope.

Well, it's not the Toro stamp of approval but it'll do.

I've decided to go bookshopping today, should be fun.

Sorry, I'm suffering a problem with tenses and read (DYSWIDT) as "did you see what I did there" as opposed to "do you see what I did there". Suffice to say, I got it a split second after I read the word "longlist".

Anyway, I went to Oxfam on my lunch but their books and records were both crap. I'll poke my beak into Waterstones on my way home, but reckon I'll be on the Amazon marketplace tonight.

Linda Grant would come in the bookshop where I worked and make her books more prominent.
