I'm happy to stick around. It's be nice if they could make it a bit more interesting for the agents with higher level players. At them moment I get to assign SP once every two weeks and that's about it.
I do think we'll need to bring some new players in, at least at key positions. The other teams will be, and the top teams will all be boosting as well (by definition, pretty much). I agree with a receiving TE, a linebacker, and some guards, I'm not so sure we need a new WR, but it couldn't do any harm. I can help out with the player scouting.
Thanks, GY. Would you mind scouting for the guards and the CB? I'll try and find the TE, WRs and LBs. I'll also put together a form recruiting PM somewhat similar to what worked well this season.
I've found that the best way to recruit is (in addition to using marketplace) to do a search for active, human, FAs (these are check boxes in the player search function) every morning, and then send a slightly personalized recruiting PM to all the high levels that either have good builds (when they are open) or have good scouting bars (when builds are closed).
Matej,
I have a lvl 23 DE who has really come on since he boosted (12 sacks in 4 games as a backup, incl 5 in the first round playoff). We may want someone higher leveled of course, but he's not a bad option if we have a hard time finding someone. I may have made a mistake, in that a few weeks ago I exchanged PMs with JoJo's agent, suggesting that instead of going for balanced builds, he should focus on being a run stopper and I would get Crush to focus on pure pass rushing (on the theory that the LDE will play an increasingly important role in stopping the run), so I would feel bad getting rid of him (though we can, of course). I might suggest bringing Frankie on to backup Crush (to give us a very good speed rushing tandem), and wait to see how JoJo does back at LDE before making a move.
I'll start searching for WRs, TEs and LBs today, and see if I can get any good ones to agree to join us on day 1 of the offseason (as I'd rather not have to pay salaries for this season).
Matej,
I'm guessing that our financial situation will be pretty good next season, as we'll have a little less than $5mm in the bank, plus the ticket sales (less the build outs of the new sections). I'll try to keep players to lowish salaries (though I think high bonuses are inevitable), although that might be tough given the levels we'll be going after.
Would you start a thread in the forum asking for everyone to post about whether they're planning on boosting next season. I know it's a bit crass, but I think we need to know.
Our finances will be rocking next season. We'll be able to build out almost everything immediately, and with our fan support like it is, should be able to squeeze a lot of money out of them.
The general rule should be minimum salary + big bonus, and a general commitment to pay for equipment.
I agree on the general rule, although that may be a problem next season once Bort implements this whole "fame" thing (as one of the inputs for determining fame will, apparently, be daily salary).
I don't think so, as our guy is only a few levels away from being pretty good (and he's not bad now) and there's going to be a change, apparently, that will make it a benefit to be slightly lower leveled.
First, the defense: As a general rule, punters on good teams generally have low average punts b/c they are usually punting close to mid-field and the 20 yards for each touchback are subtracted from their punting average. At the moment, almost no punter is all that good at dropping punts inside the 10 yard line (i.e., avoiding the touchback). There was one thread on the forum and the guy who had the most of those only had 15 on the season (he was a level 32). Also, our guy has gotten much better at not shanking the punts that often as he has leveled up (agility, jumping and speed do matter. . .who knew?).
Second, the justification: Bort has said that he is going to add a new SA for punters that makes them better able to make coffin-corner kicks. Having a lower-leveled punter means that there will be more leveling going on when he can add to that new SA (which will hopefully come in next season).
Anyway, we have enough other areas of need that I'm not sure it's worth spending the money and chemistry to upgrade a few yards per punt.
I saw that there were 3 good looking guard prospects on the FA page and so I PM'd them (wanted to get it out there quickly). Their agents have their own teams, so it's unlikely that we'd get them, but it was worth a shot.
Anyway, I'll PM to your GLB account model recruiting PMs at some point today or tomorrow.
For some reason, I'm oddly attached to the punter (more so than any one of my other players except JP). Probably b/c it takes so long to build him up when he gets only 1 or 2 punts a game (except, apparently, in the playoffs when there are no XPs). If you really think it's worth finding a higher leveled guy, though, I'd be ok with it.
