Can I get in on the Private Forum for tactics? I would like to help out, but being a complete idiot cannot really fathom how to build tactics without some help.
If the new plays roll out this week, somebody will need to adjust the DefAI when I'm gone (11th to 22nd). Hopefully we'll have several games warning before they roll out.
As I mentioned on the private forum, I've added a variety of blitz packages to the tactics to see how they work. Right now it is all on "S5 - Standard".
The big change for this week is to try and stop the off-tackle with one of the following:
1) with a nickel blitz from the CB2 (strong side)
2) a strong shift from the 3-4 formation.
The other blitz packages are scattered at low percentages against throwing formations. For the next game, the current tactics are fine, and I'll try and adjust them tomorrow for the next two before the Titans (though this will be a better test of whether some of the blitzes work).
If I have time tomorrow or Friday I'll create a pre-set for the Titans before I leave.
At the moment, it appears I may have web access in American Samoa, but I'm not counting on it.
I should be online enough this week to answer any questions anybody has about what I tried to do with the DefAI.
As soon as Bort adds some more Weak I plays, we can immediately add the pitch back in to our offense, as that will make 2 out of the 3 good options for us, and the 3WR pitch still works for us when the LG picks up the blitzing linebacker.
When the weak I plays come out (apparently, and inside run and a pass), I think we'll just need to play a 34 strong side shift with, maybe, a blitz from the LILB or LOLB (I've not yet figured out, if the LOLB blitzes from the 34, whether the LILB takes the TE. . . though I assume so).
Does this sound right to you for LB position at the snap?
Closest - Blitzing
Near, but not on the line - Run focus
Slightly back - Balanced
Deep - Pass focus
My question is really: does a blitzer come from deeper if the tactics are on pass focus? I think the answer is no, but I'm not sure. Basically, if we could delay the blitz of the LBs slightly, they'd be much better against the pass and the run.
I'm not certain, but I think you're right, that the blitzers are always lined up close to the line. It would be nice if we could delay them, but I don't think we can.
Actually, I think I'm going to send an offer now. If they accept, we'll have an hour to retract, so definitely let me know if you have a problem with it.
