I just heard Stevie G (presumably called that because he can't spell his own fucking name) say 'drawed' instead of drawn
And this guy earns how much a week? You'd think some of that money could have went to expanding his vocabulary so it doesn't rival that of a five year old.
I think we should forget about developing grassroots football and work on educating those at the top levels. At least then I won't feel sick listening to post match interviews, I should know better than that anyway.
Yeah I heard that one too, but wasn't sure if I heard it right, so I'm glad someone else did. Then I listened to the Match of the Day monkeys tell the viewers how he is worth every penny of what he earns because of last-minute heroics like yesterday. Well I would say no he fucking isn't, because nobody is "worth" £120,000 a week. And if that were true, it implies that those of his team-mates who are on half his money are entitled to stop at half-time.
Jesus. I'm as happy as the next man to talk about the strengths and weaknesses of Gerrard's game but how patronising is it to criticise his use of language.
So he's not all that educated. Who cares, I bet he doesn't.
On a more positive note, MOTD was worth watching alone for that incredibly skillful Tuncay turn which left Carragher for dead. To be fair to Carragher it would have foxed any defender in the world. Worth seeking out if you didn't see it.
We have debated Mascherano a lot on here but I'm convinced he's going to be even more of an important player for Liverpool this year. The reason for that is I think Carragher is in decline, it started last year and he hasn't been any better this season so far - despite the praise he was getting last night.
Boro were doing well with one of their strikers always dropping off into the hole and Alonso and Gerrard were not providing any cover at all.
I've also never been one to give Mido any credit for anything but he looked sharp when he came on and he looked like h has lost a lot of that excess weight he was carrying.
I don't think the match of the day highlights are going to adequately capture just how terrible liverpool were. They are wretched.

It's been happening for longer than that. he's never been the best footballer really, but he's been losing the physical strength and whatever pace he had and is becoming less effective as a defender. He's been in decline for over two years, and it was quite pronounced last season.
I watched that game yesterday, and I still can't fucking believe how liverpool got away with it. They were shite from beginning to end. I think we can put the "whole liverpool need more matchwinners who can get a goal out of nothing" debate to bed. I've seen the two league games they've played and they have played about three minutes of football between the two of them, yet won them with three goals from out of nothing.
We're doing a Liverpool at Wigan at the moment. They've been playing most of the football, but we're 1-0 up through a Deco free-kick. Strange game, flat atmosphere so far.
of course, if players like gerrard were worth every penny they wouldn't need to creep past middlesbrough with last-gasp winners.
i found it pretty galling that motd were content to lavish praise on liverpool with pretty much no mention of the middlesbrough team that had been very unlucky not to get 3 points (let alone 1), as well as putting in a great performance in their first game.
so i'm dragging them into a liverpool thread. congratulation lfc old-boys, now you've made me defend middlesbrough. thanks a fucking million.

Don't forget the game last Wednesday week, when Liverpool were annihilated in all but goals by a team of journeymen from Belgium.
So far this season, they have been outplayed to varying extents by Sunderland, Standard Liege and Middlesbrough, yet they have somehow come out of those games with maximum league points and a clean sheet in the CL qualifier. There is no team like them in the world for jamminess. They are unreal.
You'd have to give Dossena a little more time to prove how good or shite he is, he's only been in English football a wet week. Arbeloa is another matter.

Just watched the Wigan game, Zaki looks like he's going to be a crowd favourite at Wigan, it's been a long time since I've seen a player defend from the front as tirelessly as he did today.
The difference was Deco, who was head, shoulders, knees and toes above any other player on the pitch. A complete and utter class apart.

Nah, he was pretty decent two seasons ago when dovetailing with Agger who had settled in quite well by that point. Last season he did have some mitigating factors in defence of his apparent decline, he played alongside Hyppia most of the time and he had to work extra hard to cover for a well past it partner. When Skrtel came in he had to cover for him while he settled in. Less excuse this year though.
That's the thing, a player will look a lot better alongside a good player than he will alongside a bad player - I think it's no coincidence that Ferdinand has been at his best during his time playing with the excellent Vidic.
I actually agree that Carragher has never been much of a footballer. It's testament to him that over the past 4 seasons or so he has been considered at roughly the same sort of level as Terry and Ferdinand. This is because through sheer will and character he has consistently played beyond his abilities
