I thought Balkestein was Ipswich's motm, though in a game of many substitutions I don't know how much that says. He showed good positional sense and won a lot of challenges cleanly. We didn't give him much to do in the second half, mind.

Haynes looked lively too, appalling haircut though. The other stand out was Garven (sp?) playing centre mid in the first half, I don't think Ipswich got him on the ball enough.

Good news about Balkestein.

Garvan is a class act, and the only player offered an extension at the club yet to sign, and no indication publicly. Given that it runs out next year, it's very important we get him to sign it.

Wrexham 1 Wolves 1

It was lovely, I was surrounded by teenaged ASBO potentials dressed in clothes worth twice mine. They spent most of the first 30 minutes making threatening gestures towards men aged 30-35 that were 30 yards away.

Yeah, I thought we lost. They're moaning like mad over on Molinuex Mix, but I couldn't be bothered wading through all the vitriol to actually find out the score.

(it was 1-0, just checked on newsnow).

Swindon Town chocolate hob-nob
posted 13-07-2008 13:28

Last night, Swindon drew 1-1 with a decent Fenerbahce team featuring Kezman, Carlos and Colin-Kazim-Richards-From-Leyton. That's two draws against Champions League opposition, which I imagine means we'll lose 3-0 at home to Tranmere Rovers on opening day. It was a novelty to be able to watch Town on Sopcast though.

Here are the goals. It's a shame that we've scored our goal of the season four weeks before it starts.

From the youtube clips I've seen he was better off not bothering with Penydarren Park anyhow.

I resisted the temptation to take a 45-minute trip to Darmstadt yesterday to see the four-team Hessen Cup, featuring my old local side FSV Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Offenbacher Kickers, and bourgeois-town/bumpkin-village merger team SV Wehen Wiesbaden. I mentioned it, as a joke of course, but one glance from frau imp was enough to convey that skipping out on the in-laws' family reunion weekend for half a day was not an option. And no doubt I'm a better man for missing it and eating several portions of coffee and cake instead.

From what I've seen of the pubs in Merthyr, he'd have been better off going to the game.
