Well, that was pretty fucking amazing. First half he did his new album Wilderness (which I'm liking, as it basically channels the slow/epic stuff from Dog Man Star), and second half we got the Suede material (in piano/acoustic/cello format).

Lots of B-sides and obscure fan favourites ("My Dark Star", "The Living Dead" etc), some proper well-known classics ("The Power", "Pantomime Horse", "Saturday Night", a singalong finale of "Trash"), but the best bit was a marathon medley of about six or seven songs at the piano, culminating with the DMS duo of "The 2 Of Us" (which absolutely slayed me) and "The Asphalt World", upon whose last dramatically-plonked chord he abruptly slammed the piano lid down, like BANG!, stood up, spun on his heels and walked off to a standing ovation.

Super-cool, and kind of hilarious too. You just don't get that kind of theatre with the noughties school of singer-songwriter.

No! That was the only disappointment, really. A little bird (well, quite a large beardy bird) had informed me that several cover versions were on the cards, but there were actually none at all.

That was the one song where his voice struggled. He went all hoarse and cracky on the "ever tried it that way" part.
