The Huns have squeezed a good-sized fee out of Villa there, just as they did with Boumsong a few years ago, but with no European football this season they're unlikely to be able to spend more than a couple of million of it on their team. Their defence has a very make-do-and-mend look about it now.
Darren O'Dea has been fined after being involved in a pub brawl last night, in which Scott Brown was attacked by a couple of teenagers and Aiden McGeady was called a few Fenian-related names.
I would say so although Boumsong looked great at Rangers and out of his depth at Newcastle so who knows. He's a defender in the truest sense, he gets in the way, blocks, headers well and reads the game but his distribution is his weak point. I'd be very surprised if he isn't successful though as he was great in Europe last year. He was a good player for us and I'm very sorry to see him go unfortunately it looked inevitable after last week. His sale should ensure we don't have to sell anyone else and surely it'll mean we can buy a midfielder or three, is that Gareth Barry guy still getting a game for Villa?!?
We'll replace him with Boughera(?) so the defence will have the same make-do-and-mend look as last season.
HoH, reading the BBC report it sounded like O'Dea assaulted Brown which would have been amusing if misleading.
Lastly, you're clearly a smart guy so what is the difference between a couple of drunk neds calling McGeady 'Fenian-related names' and you referring to 'Huns' more often than not? You should drop it, you'll feel better for it I'm sure.

AMMS, please don't start this shite about "Huns" being a sectarian term. Because then I'll have to waste precious seconds of my life explaining why it isn't, and I've got a hundred better things to do.

How did James McCarthy play?
He falls over a bit too easily but, that apart, I liked the look of him. In fact, I was impressed with Hamilton overall - there's a fair bit of pace in that side. I know it's only 1 game but they don't look like a team that's going to be cast adrift at the bottom.
HoH
I didn’t claim it was sectarian just that the difference between a sober, educated, articulate Irishman calling me, and a reasonably large section of the west of Scotland, ‘huns’ whenever he feels like it and a drunk teenager calling an ‘Irish’ footballer ‘fenian-related-names’ during a fight in a nightclub is grey at best. Neither is particularly edifying.
Either way if the sober, sane members of our respective supports took the lead and showed some respect to one another maybe it would be better for everyone. I know I sound sanctimonious but there you go.
There's another Rangers fan on here who has come to accept the essential truth of the term, to the extent that he even changed his username to "Extreme Uber-Hun" for a while. Perhaps you might adopt a similar approach, thereby reclaiming the word from mean-spirited individuals like me?
Incidentally, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while -- what does "AMMS" stand for?
I hate diets. I'll probably have to go one one myself though - I'm about a stone and a half overweight, and it's making my ankles sore (which restricts the opportunities for exercise, and makes me even heavier).
