Right, which of you Caledonians will be at Hampden on August 20? Only £15 in, or £20 if ye fancy the Scottish NISC's pre-match bevvy in town.

I doubt Pat McCourt or Sammon will be there, but you never know with August friendlies.

Can I just give you a fiver for the drink and not have to watch the match?

Sammon certainly won't be there -- he's a Dub.

Will be interesting to see if Paddy McCourt's international career picks up again now that he has moved across the water.

McCourt might force his way back, but would need to be playing regularly in the SPL (on loan, if not necessarily at Celtic).

McCourt is basically the replacement for Riordan. Unfortunately, they can't get rid of Riordan . . .

Has it really come to this - players who aren't good enough for the A League ending up in the SPL?

Hibs have signed Melbourne Victory reject Joe Keenan.

The fools.

I'm not sure it's an ability thing so much as a money thing. An average SPL salary is probably similar to the Australian A League, as such we'll end up competing for the same players.

Has anyone seen the new Thistle away strip? Wear this outside of Byres Road at your peril!

I think it is fantastic. I haven't had that may Thistle tops - partly because red and yellow don't suit me. But this is perfect for me.

Yeah, that's really nice, I reckon. I might get one even though I'm not actually a Partick Thistle fan.

Fuck's sake, that's even worse than the godawful 'barcode' away strip of the mid-90s:

And to think I was feart that we'd end up with one of Puma's extra-dull template kits this year.

The benevolent visage of the Lawman is the only thing that prevents that hideous 1994 shirt from burning our retinas.

The new "gutted salmon" shirt has just had a suitably inauspicious debut: Thistle struggled to beat Forfar (who are two divisions below us) 4-3 after extra time in the League Cup. This despite the fact that our visitors are managed by the feckless Dick "Dick" Campbell.

Falkirk lose 1-0 to Rangers in a poor match, having had the majority of the play although Rangers created the better chances.

Michael Higdon, who had earlier blazed miles over the bar from close range, took a terrible penalty early in the second half which McGregor saved easily. A while later, Velicka (who was about to be taken off by Smith) tapped in at the far post for the only goal.

Rangers looked directionless without Ferguson 8, though Lafferty had a decent game on the wing, setting up the goal for Velicka.

There was a Paul Robinson/Gary Neville moment in the first half when McGregor hacked wildly at Dailly's bouncing backpass, but the ball bobbled wide of the far post.

Airdrie 0 Thistle 1

Ya dancer! Thistle welcome Franchise (Section B) back to the first division by beating them on their ain midden.

The only goal was scored by our on-loan Hibs Geordie, Damon Gray. That's his fourth in three games, and given how rank rotten Hibs seem to be at the moment I'm guessing they'll recall him sooner rather than later.

making a rare foray on to here as I saw half the rangers game today, I thought rangers were pish (if i can dare)

they nearly conceded 2 own goals in the first half from back passes. I only saw the first half, but understand there was a penalty 'incident'.

Seems like fair comment to me Rick, they weren't any better in the 2nd half either. It looked like a stonewall penalty although I feel HoH is being a touch ungenerous with his description of the save.

3 points, no goals conceded, as good is it's going to get for Rangers for a few weeks I fear.
Hearts beat Well 3-2, Killie beat Hibs 1-0 and Inverness beat Aberdeen 2-0 away which made me smile on another wise crap week.

In fact all the results went arguably against form, lets hope for more of that tomorrow!
