And yes, good riddance to Pearse Flynn. He won't be missed.

The new owners will no doubt be aware of the Manny Dorado situation, so I would presume some sort of resolution to that would have to have been sorted out as part of the deal?

I think we need to campaign to reinstate Meadowbank Thistle. With average crowds approaching 1,000 they would be a better bet than any of the proposed candidates.

However there should be conditions like:

- Ban on Terry Christie's 7-2-1 formations

- Move the park closer to the stand

The Commonwealth stadium needs to be preserved or else they could play at City Park.

Aye, the return of Meadowbank (minus the offside-trap-toting human duffel coat) or Clydebank (minus the Steedmans) would be fitting. As would booting Franchise into the East of Scotland league for Flynn's financial jiggerypokery.

I don't claim fluency in Pie&Bovrilspeak, but think that

Franchise = Livingston
Fairytale = Gretna

Personally, I'm hoping for a return for Third Lanark, but somehow doubt that is on the cards.

If I am wrong and not for the first time, I think that I will stand clear.

As far as I know, Airdrie polevaulted. I cant remember Livingston doing so (but I was asleep then, cos Celtic were shite, which proves me as a pure gloryhunter, ya bassa)

The abridged Pie & Bovril lexicon:

Franchise = Livingston
New Franchise = Airdrie United
Franchise (England) = MK Dons
Fairytale = Gretna
Fermers or St.Jings or Young Tories = St.Johnstone
Luvvies = Partick Thistle
Ugly Sisters = Old Firm

Third Lanark (or at least a resurrected version of them) are back at Cathkin Park and playing in the Glasgow Amatuer Leagues. Unfortunately I don't think a return to the SFL is on the cards any time soon.

Further to the aforementioned departure of Pearse Flynn, he's given the Livi fans his own little parting shot, enough to give the unitiated just a taste of an idea of the measure of the man.

Check out posts 13 and 28 on this thread on Livi's forum. (And yes that is Flynn's own log-in, he'd used it in the past in official capacities.)

The newest member of the Scottish Football League is Annan Athletic, taking the place of near neighbours Gretna. The BBC has some information on their bid here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_div_1/7479486.stm

It looks as though Galabank is a tidy little ground and it was reported to have impressed the inspectors who went over Annan's bid. It's also vaguely amusing that Spartans lost out after much of the Scottish media assuming they were favourites to get in largely because they were shouting the loudest.

It's always good to get a new team, and a bit of variety, into the league it's just a shame there's no proper pyramid structure to let it happen naturally.

Was there an Annan team in the Scottish League during that boom period in the twenties?

Well done and welcome to Annan.

Their manager is the indestructible Harry Cairney, the only man to be given a testimonial by two different teams - he played 10 years for Stenhousemuir, and then another 10 for Brechin.
