With the Union Jack, I never got why they didn't centralise the diagonal red cross within the diagonal white one. Is there a reason?

Seriously though - two things:

Wouldn't most Welsh people want the Welsh flag to not be included in an overall British flag? I'm not being funny here - I thought they mostly want to be as independent as possible. I haven't taken a poll, obviously ...although I'm about to poll one or two opinions on the matter, of course.

Secondly (and I'm not toadying, here) the Welsh flag is nice anyway - why compromise it? It'd be a bugger to work into the union flag anyway!

Wales voted for its own assembly/parliament by a far narrower margin than Scotland did. Make of that what you will.

it's an eye-fucking nightmare. the same standard should apply to flags as applies to band logos: if you can't scrawl it on the back of a homework planner, or carve it into a table-top, you're trying too hard.

maybe i'm old-fashioned, but a really great flag should do a good job of striking fear into the hearts of your enemies:

sri lanka (okay, it looks a bit like a box of matches):


this thread is top. i'm wasting loads of time on fotw.net when i should be working.

(p.s. the white cross belongs to england - more than you ever wanted to know here, including grotesque early designs for the union flag)
