Sorry. I'll stop this solo time-trial style approach to the thread and go back to being a domestique

Yes, and after 36k, Sastre's only 23 seconds down. Barring catastrophe, he's going to do it!

Didn't see the new page, that was to the Schleck question...

Sastre is catching Frank Schleck!

I think this puts the justification of CSC's tactics beyond any conceivable question...

Schleck warned for drafting Sastre. Damn right, he was totally taking the piss there.

Really pleased the time trial wasn't as 'predictable' as so many media experts proclaimed, and credit to Toro for getting it right!

Wow!

Well, you have to salute Sastre, there. Great ride. Actually, great ride on this stage and the last few - when you think about it, when he made that break in the mountains, he must have known he felt good enough to control the stages from there on in. Great planning, great execution.

I have to say that I actually like Evans alot more than I did before this race. Although he's shown himself to be emotional - 'human', if you like - he's never been really badly petulant in the same way that I think Mark Cavendish was. I don't think I'll ever warm to Cavendish, just like I never warmed to Armstrong, after his fellow-competitor-punching brat years. But back on Evans, I feel really sorry for him, actually - he didn't deserve to have as poor a ride as that. I really, really wish they just allowed racing on the last day, because if he and Sastre (and maybe a few others) were within a few seconds of each other, it would have been fantastic to see them all going at each other hammer & tongs on the way into Paris. Not going to happen, unfortunately, but there you go.

Best tour I think I've ever seen though. Can't wait for next year's already!

Fantastic from Sastre (and Kohl too). I've just been listening on the radio to an interview with the Flanders Carlos Sastre fan club. Apparently he is an extremely nice fellow (Sastre).

Before and during the Tour Evans was being compared to Indurain. Now he's going to be second again he will no doubt be compared to Poulidour.

The main difference is though, that Indurain and Poulidour actually won quite a few stages.

To be fair to Evans, Sastre was the only rider in the top six who actually won an etape this year, which is pretty sad really.

Schumacher has had a brilliant tour, hasn't he?

Vive La Tour

All is well with the World. The Good Guy wins at Alpe D'Huez with a stunning attack, founded on great tactics and a gutsy, hard as nails team.

I have grown to love Bjarne Riis' interviews. They are a lesson in understatement and avoidance of hyperbole.

Well done Carlos. Thor Hushovd to win tomorrow.

Good call, though I'd love to see Zabel take it, along with one last Green Jersey.

I'd like to see Zabel win the stage, but I think the green jersey is going to Friere. He's 42 points ahead and there are 42 points available today.

Yeah. Come on Zabel, for old times sake. Barring that, a dashing French win a la Eddy Seigneur.

I've always been a fan of Carlos Sastre's climbing, and I'm delighted by his win.

But there's something sickening about Mr. 60% being the winning team leader. I don't trust anything anymore. Sastre's time trial was unusually good as well.
