the show starts about 30 mins in on the iplayer. it's pretty good - and the entrance is hilarious . and he destroyed the noel gallagher line of thinking by virtue of just putting on a really great show.

Oh I've no doubt you're correct, g. You're preaching to the converted anyway as I'm quite a big Jay Z fan anyway (only his good stuff, natch).

When I watch last night's concert, to enrich my viewing experience, I intend to try to read your comments as they happened during the gig.

Just seen the Winehouse 'punch' footage. Looked more like an elbow to me.

nah, Guy Garvey was already laughing before she swung.

If I were a Daily Mail reader, I would be outraged:

J-Zee ruined that song of our time 'Hard Knock Life'... and I will be writing to my local Henley BNP member to prove it.

FUCKING NEIL DIAMOND.... is this the best that the build up is?

(Although my 65 year old wifie is going apeshit.... I may be on a threat later)

According to the GLC who is on site. Someone pelted Jay-Z's exiting bus with bananas to much cheering.

Seems like it's more of a 'festivals-really-attract-wankers-these-days' kind of thing.

Gerontophile's deranged commentary makes me want to watch Jay Z now. Can someone explain how I can watch it via the internet as I don't have a TV.

I came back this afternoon. Nice to do one where the site wasn't a swamp all weekend, although I have a bright red nose and sunburnt arms for my troubles.

The Proclaimers were my highlight, which might say something for the strength of the lineup. Also saw franz ferdinand playing a not so "secret" gig on the park stage

The crowd seemed to be to be a bit different this year, a bit younger (which was eavis's aim i think). Even more white middle class than usual if that's possible. The organisation looked a bit sharper too, although that might have been down to the decent weather.

Gerontophile owns this thread, and I want him to come back and take us through tonight's bill and that of every other televised festival this summer.

Mark Ronson's basically Jools Holland, isn't he?
