I'd prefer if Spain win, just because they haven't won anything in ages, but I've got nothing against Germany (although they do look a very limited side) and really don't mind that much. Just hope it's exciting.

I guess watching this closing ceremony is preferable to listening to the pundits- but only just. At least Lawrenson hasn't opened his mouth yet.

Ramos is pushing too far forward; Ballack has dropped into the inside-left channel a number of times to create an overlap for Lahm. Spain will have to do something about that. Meanwhile Spain are missing Villa. Not because of prowess in front of goal, but because they don't have enough options ahead of them when faced with Frings and Hitzelberger; too many of the midfield four are dropping short. Expect Fabregas to be pushed further forward.

thom, not sure you are correct. The point of Fabregas in midfield is to allow the speed of break. But we will see... good point about Hitzelsperger though, he is roaming a little, which is perhaps why we havent heard Senna's name yet

I know that's the point of him being there, and he can still do that on the break. But when Spain have possession they have few options going forward. Mind you, seems that Fabregas has already pushed forward in those circumstances - the free kick Spain had five minutes ago came about from an attempted one-two with Fabregas who was up against the German back line.

The Germans are attacking down the flanks, particularly their left. Sensible, given that Spain's fullbacks are not as good defensively as their defensive midfielder and their centre-backs. And the Spanish full backs have been told to push forward.

Motson wants Spain to win.
