yes. Also the poor commentary position and his disapproval of the anti-racism activity. I've decided to go with Pleat and Tyldesly as the lesser of two irritants
When Wrexham played Chesterfield in the FA Cup quarter finals at Saltergate, Radio 5 were there to take full match commentary.
Now Saltergate has the smallest commentary box you've ever seen - I had to ask the guy from Radio Derby to move so that I could change my mind.
Welsh clubs take twice as many BBC commentators to matches as any other club as the commentary is provided in two languages, so as well as Radio Cymru, Radio Wales and Radio Derby, Five Live were there.
Alan Green started complaining about the cramped conditions and how it was ridiculous to ask him to commentate in such circumstances ... former Wrexham and Wales goalkeeper, Dai Davies, who was co-commentator for Radio Cymru, had enough of his whining, turned round to Green an said "Alan Green, shut the fuck up. There are people all around this press box who would give their right arm to be doing your job. They are paying to be here - you are being paid. Now shut up."
The obnoxious twat didn't dare utter another word about the conditions!
Much prefer Ingham. Green complained aboutt he anti racism it's gone on too long and it's a waste of time. he then added we all agree with it but it was still more of the attitude- as with the commentary position stuff described by Jorge - that the game should really be organised for his convenience.
My Dad hates him as well and I completely understand why. For all the reasons people dislike him I find him a really engaging commentator. I like the fact he's opinionated and has his own particular quirks when he's talking. So much better than the vapid twats on the TV. At least AG actually seems like he wants to be at the football match and is enjoying it. On the TV it seems like a day job to them.
Best commentary team in the country: Ingham and Green with Jimmy Armfield alongside.

Again, 'Clem' should be shot.
I tend to think Green dislikes modern football and footballers and that he is too interested in generating a cottage industry around himself.
He, to me, doesn't do the job he is paid for: describing the action to radio listeners, too concerned about his own agenda and petty grievances with SAF etc. His use of callers on 606 as ciphers for him to sound off just par for the course.
How often have I screamed: Yes Al but where's the ball, who's got it...
There was a time, back in the bland old days, when that might have been a valid defence of a commentator/pundit. But that time has long since passed. I want people who know their stuff, not gobshites slightly more irritating than the loudest-mouthed twat in your local.
Football's not all about opinions. Now shut up and tell us about what's actually happening in the game, fuckface (that's directed at Green not you, BTW).
You're absolutely right however he's opinionated while knowing his stuff. There are few commentators who would, rightly, call players cheats with so much venomous indignation. Good for him.
To me he always sounds like a particularly shockable maiden aunt complaining about how loud the chaps in the pub are whilst nonetheless emptying some of the cooking sherry into her tea. Like the BBC tennis commentators who used to complain about McEnroe swearing. Why did their producers mike up the court if they were so fussed?
If Green is so committed to fairness what about showing some of it to the people who call his show instead of using them to fulfill his agenda and humiliating them when they don't agree with agenda for the day.
Chris Waddle was a very good footballer back in his day. However, the only things he seems to be remembered for (and is probably asked to be interviewed about) are his bad hair, bad records made with Glenn Hoddle, bad touchline dancing with Terry Butcher and a bad attempt at taking one of those pelanty things. Oh, and bad custard pie based antics with Gazza. Even this thread, which has his name in the title, is about his blustery colleague. Football can be very cruel, can't it?
Miaow. You know, I've some sympathy re the Chesterfield pressbox. Couldn't Radio Gogogoch have made do, just once, with Dai or whoever doing both the English and Gymraeg commentary?
Ingham's a much better commentator overall- he describes the game and its context much better without the namedropping.
Greeny's always traded on his bumptious manner. Years ago, he was a cub on the Belly Laugh and then Radio Ulster. A complete knob even then, according to his brother in law 'Winker' Watson (a student PE teacher at my school).
