Isn't that where Chris Bart-Williams went too?

Eventually, after a stop at APOEL Nicosia.

As well as Fenerbahce, Dalian Atkinson also played for Real Sociedad, Al Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), Taejon Citizen and Chonbuk Hyundai Motors (both South Korea).

pre-1990 admittedly, but Louie Donowa played for Deportivo La Coruna and Willem II, and Raphael Meade trumped him by playing for Odense and Sporting Lisbon.

Chris Kiwomya had spells at Le Havrem, Selangor (Malaysia) and AaB.

Paul Mason actually started his career abroad at Groningen.

Lee Chapman finished his career in undignified style at Strømsgodset, generally regarded as the worst ever foreign signing in the Norwegian league. Paul Davis also had a short and forgettable spell at Stabæk in the mid 90s (I think he played all of 29 minutes).

Maurice Ross - Viking
Trevor Morley - Brann

Going back to the 70s, Paul Miller had a loan spell at Skeid before he went back to Spurs and broke into the side.

Alloa legend Willie Irvine (how many players can claim to have scored a winning goal the day after they've been held hostage for 18 hours by a convicted killer) played in Norway for FK Vidar from 1988 - 1990 and for FK Valerangen from 1990 - 1991.

Fairclough played for Beveren and in the Swiss League, but when he was doing the latter he was turning out for FC Luzern.

Beveren is in Belgium.

Simone Perotta has to be the player whose prospects of success were improved most spectacularly by getting the hell out. By doing it at 6, he managed to sidestep English football entirely.

Also - Pawel Abbot at Lodz, I think, though he did choose Poland at u-21 level.

And - Lee Sharpe at Samp, Roy Essandoh somewhere in Finland, Mike Marsh at Galatasaray, John Collins at Monaco.

The way that 99% of exports have been shit or returned home so promptly seems to symbolise our complete lack of self-confidence as a country when it comes to making the most of would-be opportunities in the EU especially.
