and Brazil are the team that Wales would be if we had skill, technique, fitness, a yellow kit and some of the best players in the world.

See also, if my gran had balls, she would be my grandad.

Obviously if both were still alive

Who said that ? Germany's individual technique is probably the poorest in the tournament along with their close neighbours Austria.

I also can't agree with Italy being the best team at the 1990 World Cup. They had an easy run in the group stages against a disastrous Austrian team, an underwhelming Czech side and a mediocre USA. The knockout stages saw them edge a typically underperforming Uruguay and an Ireland team just happy to be there.

The first team they came up against who actually had a go was Argentina and they deserved their win based on their performance after half time.

Nothing Italy did came close to Germany's brilliant performances against the Dutch and the Yugoslavs.

For US viewers, ESPN360 has the full game on replay w/o storm interruptions.

I've been re-watching it today. Both Lahm and Friedrich were totally burnt the whole game by the wing play from Turkey. Lahm should/could have had a yellow and a penalty given against him. Lahm should have had the penalty. (The fouling player is outside the box, Lahm is already well inside.) Rustu should never have left his line for Klose's goal (or should have gotten his defenders to clear out of the way). Lehmann on the Turkey goals - good grief - has he had any decent saves this summer?

And who does Sabri play for? He's got to be one of the players of the tournament.

Andy Gray was excellent for this game as well, even admitting that he was wrong about thinking Turkey would sit back and absorbing pressure. (Here he is at 87 minutes asking whether Turkey have left too long for Germany to try and get one back...)

Ireland possibly had the best defense at the tournament. While they might have been happy to be there, beating them was no easy task.
