Thuram's just failed a medical at PSG due to a heart condition, which may explain his absence form the Italy game.

Hope he's okay. One of the best defenders I've ever seen, and by all accounts a splendid human being too.

Yes I heard that as well, apparently it's the same condition that killed his brother. Thuram is a clever guy, when he hangs up his boots (which will probably be now) he'll likely get out of football and get more involved in French politics.

Domenech has just been confirmed in his job through 2010 by the FFF (a vote of 18-0 with one abstention).

Even taking into account the FFF's cryptic statement about Domenech's "conditions of employment and management methods being redfined", the decision tends to defy rational analysis.

Considering that they have been together for five years and have two children, I presume the answer was yes.

If I were a bookie, I'd be slashing Romania and Serbia's odds of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Great news indeed. The FA must feel a bit stupid having fired McClaren at the first sign of failure. Or something.

At this point, I'm almost hoping that Romania and Serbia finish ahead, if that's what it will take for those 18 imbeciles to wake up. I suppose one point out of group play was good enough for them.

Perhaps they agreed with your posts on here about how much better their performances were than Italy's.

Their performance, not really, but their potential is indeed much better than Italy's. Herein lies the rub.

if you leave your best players at home you won't make much of that potential. fucking hell, how can they give this man two more years.

the only explanation i can think of is that the FFF are bunch of nationalistic wankers and were secretly pleased that domenech 'punished' the young non-french based players by leaving them at home.
