I really spend too much of my life trying to analyse the stats and numbers of visitors on my webpage (which Wordpress lets you do in abundance). Probably as much time as I do actually writing articles.
The last few days has seen me in stat heaven. My visitor count has gone through the roof, and some of the search terms that people use to find me are bizarre.
I like to see where I get my traffic from. It's always nice to see when people you've never heard of link to you. I've discovered some great blogs that way, and some very weird ones as well (like the auto mechanic blog).
Yeah, I do, obviously, although having had these figures at my fingertips for over two years, I still have no idea how many is "a lot".
Talking of which, why did no-one tell me how good Wordpress actually is, when you install the proper package? It still requires a good deal of tinkering, but the new look for the blog is coming on quite nicely, and has required very little effort on my part so far.

Ah, I've always bigged up Wordpress. I think it's a great bit of kit. It's kind of at a crossroads, as it's a pretty good content management system, although people thing it's just for blogs. There are more powerful content management systems, but none of them are as (relatively) easy to use.
I bought a hosting pack that came with Wordpress pre-loaded on it - the even had the codes that you usually need to put into the install file already there. All I had to do was open it and it took me straight to the registration page.
