Well, it seems that UEFA have initiated disciplinary proceedings, based on the materials sent by the FPF. Decision to be handed down on 4 June. Porto have until 3 June to put their case. If the decision goes against them, they have two other bodies they can appeal to. A Bola reckons a ban is on the cards.
The defence could be that the relevant regulation (1.04(d)), which was introduced in 2006 when UEFA didn't have a tool to ban AC Milan, was not in force at the time of the alleged wrongdoings (2003/04).
On the other hand, it could be said that said regulation is not punitive or diciplinary but merely sets forth a requirement for particiaption (the exclusion of clubs involved in illegal activities that seek to adulterate results of national or international games).
It would be safe to say, I think, that Porto are sweating cobs.
