Following on from Hofzinser's thread on the last OTF, which was meant to last one Friday but which has now been going for weeks.

It's all about creating a chain of cryptic crossword clues. Playing the game consists of setting a cryptic crossword clue, which must contain the answer to the last clue. (You can't carry on from your own clue, of course: only from someone else's.)

So, the last answer was THE GOOD SOLDIER SVEJK, and I think we were at:

Stout fighters for autonomy get backing of author of The Good Soldier Svejk, and destiny intervenes (4,5,1,4)

Ah, excellent. I going to get this started up again but I missed the last clue before the old board was vanished away.

Struggling a bit with this one.

By contrast, today's Guardian crossword is the easiest I can remember in quite some time.

You see, I was looking for anagrams of r+his case and l+his case, but was hampered somewhat by never having heard of lachesis.

No, me neither, but I looked up the Fates on Wikipedia. I thought that was a really neat (in both the UK and US senses) clue.

Or a really tidy one (in both the Welsh and English senses).

I must somewhat shamefacedly admit that I first became aware of Lachesis because it's the name of a track (one part of an, if you will, trilogy) on the first Emerson Lake and Palmer album.

Oh, that's true. I'll edit - it makes my clue read a bit better anyway.
