Forest have signed Earnshaw for £2.65 million (+ a very sizeable wage I guess).

I don't think his wages are that big, when considering that Commons left the club due to his new contract offer not being enough money. Our wage structure is fairly rigid. A necessary cure for the pain endured, due to David Platt's wastefulness in previous years.

We've signed Jim Goodwin who was deemed not good enough for relegated Scunthorpe.

According to the BBC we 'beat off Championship clubs' too. Exactly like we 'beat off Championship clubs' for Kiegan Parker.

I think our new signings are getting trumpeted up to be a bit more than they are to be honest.

Barca have just announced that they've agreed to transfer 19 year old Mexican wunderkind Giovanni (dos Santos) to Tottenham for 6 million euro (plus up to an additional 5 million depending on appearences and 20% of the proceeds of any future sale).

The guy is very talented, but more than a bit tempermental, and has been seriously eclipsed at Barca by his former youth teammates Messi and Bojan. If Juande can the best of out him, Spurs will have done very well for themselves.

It can't have been easy being behind ronaldinho and henry in the queue at barcelona. no matter how good you are you're not really going to get much of a look in.

He won the silver ball at the 2005 youth world cup, finishing behind Anderson. I have no idea how, because he either scored or set up every single goal that mexico won on their way to winning the tournament. (what the hell did anderson do?)

This looks like a fantastic signing for Spurs.

He really lost out to Bojan, who is more than a year younger, but had the significant advantage of having been born in Catalunya, grown up in the Barca youth system and having his father work for the club.

I'd be very worried about him settling in England if it wasn't for Juande, but as long as he's there . . .

Hard to say about this signing. He's younger than Huddlestone, Lennon, O'Hara, Kaboul. By all accounts he is pretty unpopular witht he fans at barca.

At least the fee isn't too silly.

Our midfield next year will have plenty of flair.

Presumably the spurs midfield firesale will be pretty extensive.

He's unpopular because he's been quite vocal about not getting enough playing time and rather subject to sulks, whereas Bojan has been the perfect Boy Scout.

Barca supporters don't question his ability at all.

good to hear about his ability. I've only seen youtube clips.

At least he's got a left foot.

Bale and Dos Santos will be handful going forward.

i think Spurs need to buy a couple of experienced players.

i can see jenas playing right midfield next season. its his best position as he is then relieved of responsibility to carry the team forward and is free to make runs into the box, score goals and support the forwards.

Don't forget Modric.

My fear is that Modric, Dos Santos, Jenas and Lennon are much too similar as to be able to play in the same team, and that Taino and Zakora aren't anywhere near enough to balance them.

I saw Dos Santos at thw WC U20 three times last year and he is *good*. The fee is a snip.

But if Barca are prepared to let him go with Eto'o and Ronaldinho on the way out and Henry and Messi semi-permanently crocked, it does suggest that he may have some off-the-field issues.

I can see a home formation of : Dos Santos, Modric, Zakora, jenas

Away i think Malbranque will have a regular place.

I tyhink Lennon will drop down the pecking order or be sold.

He's not really a midfielder to play in a 4-4-2 though is he?

I got the impression he would be one of the wide men in a 4-3-3 or play off a main striker.
