I think anything more than a 1-year contract may be a bad idea. You get to use flex points to level up again after each season and you get the leveling up from XP and training during the season, so you are likely to be more valuable next season and capable of getting a better contract.

Also, it seems to be better to sacrifice a little money in the short term for a promise to start. XPs are based entirely on playing time, and so starting is the best way to build yourself up.

Uh oh. I'm in a 2-year contract--thought security would be a good thing, but I do have a promise to start.

By the way, my superstar-in-his-own-mind HB, J.T. Stretch, started off his first game superbly, running for 62 yards in the first half. Unfortunately, all his trash talking and celebrating riled up the other team and they knocked him out of the game with an injury.

Inca,

Security may be worth it. I'm just guessing that there will be a busy market for players after the season, but I could definitely be wrong.

I'm not sure a longer term contract is necessarily all that secure. My contract at the first club that signed me was for a year/season, and I was waived within a day. (Maybe there is an exemption?)

I think most human managers will be offering only 1-year deals, because they want to see which players are actually being watched over by active members.

Anybody figure out if there are promotion/relegation in these leagues?

I threw some money at the site last night (admittedly, I was a bit tired, maybe even half-asleep, and paying through paypal made it three clicks to do it) and looked around a bit to see if it was possible to buy a team and make it the "OTF" team. But I think everything is sold out, so no luck there.

I'll probably be creating a corner back with some kick returning ability. Neon Deion returns.

I seem to be cursed, as my offensive tackle playing in his second game got injured. How does this game know I'm a Philadelphia sports fan, and, therefore, subject to sports-related curses?

The Cowboys' first game with me in the lineup is against the last place team of our division, and we're in fourth. I'm being thrown in there as the starting left tackle.

There should be a ticker running down to the start of the game somewhere on your team page, GY. But I think my game today will be about midnight UK time, not sure if all leagues play simultaneously.

Any thoughts on strategic team picking for a kicker? Presumably I want one that is crap in the red zone and poor at converting third downs but able to make some yardage.

Assuming you can make FGs, yes.

My team won 35-0, I was involved in over 50 plays, but unfortunately had no pancakes (the only positive stat for O-linemen)

Inca,

I wouldn't worry about the lack of pancake blocks. There are many more DEs than OTs in the game, and so you'll generally find yourself overmatched at this point. Getting 50 snaps is great for you XP, and so long as you don't give up many sacks, you're unlikely to get benched.

I'm still debating between using those last 100 XP I have on my guy now, or to create a new player.

There are a lot of teams without Linebackers and other positions (LB is 200 points). I made a stupid choice of team based on cash rather than replacing a computer player to get in the game.

Dumbass choice for a big signing bonus. My sign-on paid a semester of school fees.

Corner back and return specialist Neon Leon (curbed reference ahoy) was created last night and immediately snapped up as a starter. The team offered a ridiculous 3-year contract and a huge bonus.

Not bad for a guy who is all speed.

Inca,

There's a difference between XP and flex points. Flex points are used to create a player/level up a player, and come when you sign up or pay cash. XP are earned by playing games and training. Every 1,000 XP jumps your player to the next level and gives you five skill points (which are used to increase your player's various skills).

Matej, is Neon Leon also playing in an online sim baseball league?
