I bought the BBC Theme Tunes album just for the Blakes 7 theme tune, it was the first record I ever bought. Preceeding the first chart record I bought which was Ghostbusters.
In my defence here I was 6 years old, I loved Blakes 7, though I had no idea what was going on.
Ah, this'll be the Blakes 7 that pretty much set the template for modern science fiction series, in respect to its season-long story arcs and bombshell series finales.
It's true, though... some of the CGI was shocking.
As annoyingly bad (and occasionally tedious) as Blake's 7 often was (Voice From The Past, The Keeper, Warlord and several more), it was worth it all for the occasional moments of genius. Its towering achievement is of course Orbit, but the genuinely shocking last episode, Blake was great enough to excuse all that had ever gone wrong before.
And of course, in Avon, the series had one of the very greatest characters ever to appear on telly. Seriously, the guy was great.
