The race war has begun http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080620/pl_nm/usa_politics_obama_race_dc
Barrack has given notice that he is ready for the racial slurs and a survey says that a sizable percentage of White American votes admit that obama's racis is an issue.
Spike Lee pridicts that Washington will really be chocolate city when Obama wins no doubt giving white nightmarish visions of cookouts on the white house lawn as well as empty bottles of Petrone and 40OZ bottles of Colt 45 littering Pennysylvania Avenue.
BTW what's the issue with Michelle Obama, she is not frightening looking like Ms Rice and seems a warm, intelligent woman.
Same reason Hillary scared people when Bill was running for president - she has a mind (and career) of her own, a sharp tongue and occasionally strays "off-message".
To add to what Antonio said, the GOP always goes after the Dem candidate's wife as being shrill, controlling, ball-busting, un-American, etc. Here's an article that touches on this phenomenon.
It's in some ways part of the attempt by the GOP and the general news media (like Maureen Dowd at the NYTimes) to make the Dem candidate seem effeminate (which reads as not tough, which reads as welcoming the country's enemies with open arms).
Why the Supreme Court is important (or why preventing the installation of a semi-permanent reactionary majority on the Court is one of the best arguments for voting for Obama):
QUOTE: "He wants to show that he is not a threatening . . . another politically threatening African-American politician," XXX said. "He wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically he's coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it's corporate or whether it's simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up."
Was it: A) Michael Moore, B ) Dennis Kucinich, C) Geraldine Ferraro or D) Ralph Nader?
Answer here. Alnog with some shocking stuff about how Obama "talks White".
QUOTE: "Even if you never met him, you know this guy," he said at a Capitol Hill breakfast, according to ABC. "He's the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone."
Yeah, that's what I think of when I think of Obama.
Curiosity lead me to the Rove wiki entry. Among other interesting bits, his birth father ran out on the family, then his mother's new husband 'I knew him as dad' divorced her and came out as gay, then his mother killed herself. Of course, he dodged the Vietnam draft and half-assed his way through school and has pretty much made a life of getting other people elected through various nefarious means. Neat guy.
Since TPC has opened the door to anohter confab about veep-stakes, let me try out another name on you:
Assume that some military experience will be useful to trot out against McCain - indeed someone who is an actual war hero of some sort would be good (this excludes pretty much all women from the ticket)
Assume that no one currently or even recently in uniform has the political smarts to be worthy of being in the No. 2 spot (no Zinni, no Clark)
Assume that you want someone with significant political and administrative experience, and whose view on trade are not completely batshit (no Jim Webb)
Assume you want someone that will resonate at least somewhat with your own base, but preferably have supported Hillary so as to cement the party a bot (adios, Bill Richardson)
Assume that it would be good to get someone from a Republican-leaning state or region because it would make the Republicans spread their resources into places they'd prefer not to have to defend.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you New School President Bob Kerrey.
