You managed to win the game solely due to an excellent freekick and the mindnumbing incompetence of Fernando Clavijo. In his postgame comments he threw his entire team under the bus.
It was a good free-kick, wasn't it? But still...if Colorado can't score at home, against a team playing Robinson at the back, James out of position (*again*, Christ Carver's an idiot) and Kevin Harmse, you know, actually on the field of play, there's something desperately wrong with them.
Here's a question: yesterday was the second game in a row that Toronto took the field with only five subs on the bench. Last week, Colorado also only had five subs - has there been some kind of rule change to shorten the bench?
No rule change, just consider the roster situation. You're permitted between 18-22 at the most. Add in injuries and Olympics callups=no viable benches whatsoever in some cases.
Colorado BY FAR is the most inconsistent schitzophrenic team in MLS. I don't think they've had the same lineup in any 2 games this year., mostly due to the way of Fernando being an enigma.
While the league shuffles around the ends of its rosters, and the Galaxy turn into something that even Dream Team might not script, this was USOC semifinal night. New England went to RFK and decided to start 10 reserves plus Shalrie Joseph. Result, 3-1 DC. The other, USL semi had Seattle getting to swim through the humidity of a Charleston summer, and ended up falling on penalties after a 1-1 draw aet.
So your final, live on FSC Wednesday September 3 is DC United home to Charleston Battery, winner gets to play in CONCACAF next year.
And while I'm waiting for the 2AM Olympics to start, the fun just keeps on coming. Colorado spends an allocation on Cory Gibbs to bring him home back to America, leaving aside the inconvenient fact that he wanted to play for New England, not them. Meanwhile the Galaxy pass on Gibbs, spending their allocation to shore up their roster with.... Eddie Lewis.

Man, fuck this. Eddie Lewis? I mean, Gibbs is liable to break into a thousand pieces if the sun hits him the wrong way, but we need a fucking central defender.
Oh, and one more thing: Leiweke, Leiweke, VAFFANCULO!
QUOTE: Tim Leiweke, chief executive of AEG, which owns the Galaxy, said Monday's developments cleared the way for the Galaxy to "straighten the ship out" and regain some forward momentum.
"Unfortunately, you can't fire 22 players," he said, a comment reflective of AEG's considerable unhappiness with the Galaxy and the way it is underperforming. Leiweke had only recently described the team as "dysfunctional," a description he repeated Monday.
"I think they're all responsible," Leiweke said of the players. "What I told them this morning was, 'Now no one has any excuses.' I eliminated all excuses.
"Now it's up to Cobi to straighten it out with the team and on the pitch, and for us to make a decision on how we structure this organization going forward so we no longer have the split we clearly have."
The Kings are a joke, and the Galaxy aren't any better. Leiweke is the reverse King Midas--everything he touches turns to shit.
