Bert in a Burberry Cap would be good.

But Stone Island would make Big Bird's ass look fat.

And calling cards like the ICF:

"You've just been visited by the letters K and Q, and the number 3"

Reed, or any other DC people, I'm intrigued: what is Pollo Campero?

It's a fried chicken chain. If I remember the right Post story from long ago, it's central american based. When a branch finally opened up in northern Virginia, there were people waiting in line for a couple says before it opened. They had outlets in the airports in El Salvador and Guatemala and people would stock up and bring back buckets and buckets of it when returning to the US.

Sounds good. I wish the Galaxy were sponsored by King Taco or El Gallo Giro.

Inca, you've got lots of 'em in SoCal: http://www.campero.com/restaurants/list_unitedstates.php

They've even got branches in Indonesia and China. That's pretty weird.

Cotdamn. I'm embarrassed, but some of those have got to be brand new. I definitely would have known about the one in Long Beach if I still lived down there.

It's not like a Latino restaurant chain would stick out in SoCal. Plus I think they're relatively new to the US.

Any DC fans think the visit of Chicago will break them out of their slumber?

Interesting to read that Emilio's been upgraded to a DP. Maybe he'll start trying now, unfortunately for us. Goff's reporting that Gallardo's carrying a thigh injury and might not play.

Meanwhile, I hope the Fire play Rolfe up-top. He's our best finisher and Frankowski is recovering from an ankle-injury, so I don't think he should be rushed back. Oh, and is John Thorrington for real?

Finally, the Fire's run of form is about the only thing going right for me lately (you may have noticed my decreased posting frequency in recent times). I really hope we at least scrape a draw tonight so I can retain some vestige of sanity. Otherwise, you might hear the sound of my television being tossed out of my window wherever you are.

I've never actually been to a Pollo Campero, but I know there's one in Wheaton (Silver Spring, MD) which is a bit of a hotbed for small stripmall-based ethnic restaurants. It's very near a very popular Peruvian chicken place that recently had a big fire, so Campero is probably reaping the benefit of all of that displaced chicken demand in the greater Wheaton-Georgia Avenue catchment.

Is it fried chicken or that spit-roasted stuff that most other places with "Pollo" in the name serve? If it's the latter, I'll have to try it. If it's the former, I can miss it.

They've been advertising a lot with DC United this year (they have an ad on the scoreboard and some of the touchline things - I think you call them "hoardings.")

Anyway, I predict. DC 0-2 Chicago. I'm really discouraged by DC's form of late.

Does it actually say "TRADITION" on the back of the neck on DC's jerseys? Give me a break.

What are you talking about? Volkswagen has a lot of tradition!

I hate this DC team. There's not a single player on the pitch who I feel good about. Not a one. Gallardo, maybe - but he symbolizes the misguided effort to replace Gomez with Veron.

In Fever Pitch, Hornby mentions that every year, Arsenal has at least one guy who is just not very good at football. That's how I feel about this side.

On the broadcast tonight, the the ESPN guys were talking about Soehn's insistance on being "tougher." I don't see how "toughness" is a problem here. Indeed, I don't see a problem with the attitude (insofar as attitude is ever visible on the pitch). I see a problem with players' ability to consistently complete passes to their teamates. Quaranta for example, is good at taking guys on with the ball, but has he completed a single pass over three yards?
