I love stodgy white bread of any kind with my pints of ale. I don't know why people bother with crisps or other, more fancy snacks - bread compliments ale perfectly. (I suppose it's the shared ingredients.) It's been known since the two things (ale & bread) were created, of course, but it's still great.

In fact, I'm off work tomorrow, so I might get some ales in tonight!

A bread thread, huh. Well, you can't beat a bit of barbari, the bourgeois bread of Iran (on account of how it's too expensive for the proletariat). Lovely with a bit of feta.

Anyway the best bread I've had was a roll of sorts at Quality Meats in NYC with grilled rosemary on top. Unlike the rosemary that comes out of my oven, however, it was all powdery and lovely, and made the already very nice bread even nicer.

I had an enormously disappointing steak at Quality Meats, although you're right, the bread is nice. Continuing in the steak/bread vein, they do a sort of cheesy bread at Gaucho Grill which is delicious.

If you're talking about the bread I think you're talking about, you're right. The one with the sort of gooey insides?

My parents think this is due to the water. Having altered every other factor involved int he tea process over there, and still unable to make a decent brew, that's the conclusion they've come to.
