I like the way they get up people’s noses.
They don’t give up so you get your money’s worth. Good value that.
They find a way to win even if they’re playing crap. Champions do that, you know.
They’re blessed with good luck.
If they’re arrogant, they have something to be arrogant about.
They just know how to win, baby, win. So get over it.
You might loathe them, but you secretly wish your team could win like they do.

I dont want them to win, but it wouldnt piss me off if they were to not lose.

No qualms here.

Although, I would prefer if the guy who has bet on Villa as top scorer, wins.

I feel the same way, g. I don't always root for the Germans, I simply admire their positive attitude to the game. Spain have done well in this tournament so I'd be quite gruntled if they win and not too upset if they don't.

True, but the way in which Germany teams win isn't how they used to win. It's changed a lot. Twenty years ago you wouldn't have expected a German team to progress to a final on the back of a pair of enthralling 3-2 wins after a rollercoaster set of group games.

true E10. Because they wouldnt have let in as many goals as they have, which sort of makes them likeable. The team of (I think) 1990, would have steamrollered through this tournament, because there isnt a defence in the whole thing who could cope with the (shit, cant believe I am going to say this) artistry, in how they dismantled teams.

Michael Ballack is Lothar Mattheus (sic), and I claim my £5.

but is that really true? they haven't won a tournament since the farce that was 1996. ok, they have got to a couple of finals and semi finals (which would be cause for a open top bus parade for england)
but they haven't WON anything for ages.

Can I be the first to call Germany cereal underachievers?

Cereal underachieving is the last thing you can accuse Germany of.

The Germans find a way to get a result when they need to. It might not always look pretty but after all it's results that count.
It's true they haven't brought home any silverware in some time but in their 15 world cup appearances they have never once failed to get out of the first round.

Look at their WC record: 3 WC wins; runners up 4 times, 3rd place 3 times; 4th place once and 4 quarter final finishes. They placed 15 times in all 15 appearances. Now that's an astonishing record by any measure. For pure consistency they have a better record than anyone, even Brazil. I'm not saying they're better than Brazil, just more consistent.
