Cardiff City & Wales I've always thought Forest Whitaker would do well. As I get older I am returning to the Custard Cream 3 Bits of Fry & Laurie - The Complete Scripts Jaded Axe Attack Location: East Molesey - it's paradise Birthdate: 1968-12-11

A boring question on series two, does it get a BBC2 or 3 repeat following it's Sunday night broadcast on the latter?

Easter Weekend at my parents threw me and I am missing Episode 3.

The repeat's on Monday BBC3, so you've missed that - but they're recapping the first four eps a week Friday.

Last night's episode was excellent, if not quite as good as the previous week's.

The Big Lebowski bowling homage was a hoot, especially when Nessa started polishing her ball and her voice went all vibrato. Uncle Bryn's Brokeback Mountain speech was a good 'un too.

Nessa-isms are creeping into my speech patterns now. I find myself saying "Alright (name), how's it going, alright?", "What's occurrin'?", and "Crackin'" in a deadpan tone.

Surely they should be part of your natural speech patterns anyway?

I spent my entire Easter Weekend back in Porthcawl (the true spiritual home of G&S) lapsing in to Uncle Brynisms.

This is quite unsettling. Being a Welsh boy married to an English girl it's all a little too close for comfort. I'm finding Nessaisms and Brynisms creeping into my speech. The same as SR said, but I was in Trebanos rugby club on Saturday night (don't ask) and I must have been greeted by 15 people who said, "Alright, (name), how's it going, alright?" Followed by the dead-pan, "What's occurin'?" Followed swiftly by the Brynism of "I won't lie to you...."
It's taken over ten years for Twin Town to slowly fade from the local dialect.
As for knockin' three out in an hour. Those days are long gone.

If people overdo the G+S lingo, do you put them right with a stern "Oh. Oh. OH. OH. OH!"?

The Big Lebowski stuff was fun, but not as good as the look on Gavin's face after Stacey's wanking comment.

On a serious note, does anyone know where you can get those oven gloves?

I realised on Sunday night that if you somehow synthesised Pam and Uncle Bryn you'd create my Mum.

I think it was the "I'm in the Picasso" line from the latter in Ep 3 that clinched it (though I don't actually think that was what he was driving, frustratingly).

Yeah, I noticed that. Big continuity error there. Surely Bryn knows what car he drives.

Article about Ruth Jones here.

In the Culture Show/Youtube clip at the bottom, she's got a surprisingly posh accent.

Anyway, it reminded me of one of my favourite quotes from this episode, after she's revealed she used to roadie for The Who...

"Great days. Until I found out something about Pete Townshend that I didn't like. And all I'll say is – and I said it to his face – where's the book?"

I think that's the thing about the new series. I don't think the narrative is as strong or the plotting is as tight as the first series, where it was well-nigh faultless.

By contrast, there are a fair few dead-ends in this series.

But there are enough brilliant scenes/jokes to keep it going - it's probably more quotable now than it was before. Obviously you can get too much of that, but it doesn't look as like it's going to turn into Little Britain or anything.
