Will be in London and Bristol for a few days next week. Any good vinyl shops that you'd recommend?

The various Music & Video Exchange shops in Notting Hill Gate. Particularly the upstairs room of the main music branch, if you're looking for collectors' stuff.

Walk down Berwick Street in Soho too, I was there for the first time in ages today and was quite surprised how many vinyl stores were left though for how long remains to be seen.

If you're down Berwick Street don't forget to turn by the Blue Posts onto Broadway Market and pop into Sounds Of The Universe, Soul Jazz's shop. It's mint.

I'd have said Fopp on Tottenham Court Road but for some unfathomable reason they closed it down. Chain or no at least they had some decent stuff. Teenage Fanclub and Jad Fair, anyone?

Over my dead body will I go into Zavvi or whatever it's called this week.

*edit* Ah, vinyl. I wouldn't have said Fopp then. You could try Rough Trade East but it depends on how much you like being sneered at.

Absolutely make sure to go to Sounds of the Universe. It is awesome, I miss it very much (it is a little of the beaten track and easily missed).

Blackmarket is good if you like dubstep. Phonica is good for being Phonica, or at least it used to be.

Try the new Puregroove in town as well. You'd have to google for an address though, I can't remember where it is.

The new Rough Trade by the Truman's Brewery off Brick Lane is alright. Like the Starbucks of Indie shops if that makes any sense.

I've found the new Rough Trade to be very friendly and helpful. If you go there then remember to head up Brick Lane for a bagel as well.

I've got a couple hundred pieces of vinyl, mainly purchased between '81 and '89; tilting to new wave/British stuff. Take a flyer and post your 'I've been hunting for' list and it's yours if I have it. I likely won't (number of possible releases being what they are) but what the hell.

Nah, I'd rather give it to people who'll enjoy it than make a few bucks from strangers on ebay. If I've got it and you want it, it's yours. Having said that, I'm not going to post a list and say "take what you want", but if someone says "I've been looking for the 12" of 'See That Glow' by This Island Earth", I'll have it in the mail tomorrow.
