Steely Dan, last night at the Chevrolet Theater in Wallingford CT. Played a newly rearranged set of mainly old favorites with a few suprises. Included some less "well known" songs such as Parkers Band and Everything You Did and left out My Old School which in previous outings has always been the show closer.

Proof, if it is needed, that if you have a great catalog, fine musicians and backing vocalists, then the punters will happily shell out $200 a ticket and drive away listening to the "Best Of" album in the car.

Brilliant stuff.

Some might think this a silly question: Why did they charge that much?

Steely Dan (in their modern incarnation anyway) are renowned for being very noodly and boring and long-winded in a live setting.

My friend Emmett recently paid €126 (which is almost exactly the equivalent of $200) for a ticket to see Prince play Croke Park.

The gig was cancelled last week with about 55,000 out of 80,000 tickets having been sold.

That live album Steely Dan released in the '90s was a most boring affair.
