Every time I see or hear him on TV or radio, I find myself agreeing with him on pretty much everything. Do I take it that he is hiding some skeletons in the closet, lets down his members greatly somehow or is he just a sensible bloke?

I realise that this isn't likely to be the most critical forum of someone like him but I am more likely to get a balanced view than that of the media's

Bob is a dirty bastard in five a side football and has been kicked out of the Euston flyer (pub near his London office) after drunken revels.

He also interviwed and appointed his wife to a PR job with the union. When accused of nepotism, he was unapologetic- "she was the only facking candidate!"...

Actually, if she was genuinely the only candidate, he had a point

The story is probably exaggerated, possibly invented. E10 may know.

Interviewing your partner, relative or debtor/ creditor for a job is generally agreed to be bad HR practice even where the relationship is declared and open.

Although it's widespread, of course.

I know of Bob's tough-tackling footballing ways but not of how his wife got her job, if she did.

He's a good bloke, is Bob, though not always the smartest at PR. A mate of mine is their political officer (and one of the smartest people I know on the left) and he does at times get over-worried about what Bob's gonna say whenever he goes on the telly.

I'll leave it to others to go on about what a cunt they think he is. As they usually do.
