i keep on wanting to make these OTF/WSC drinks but am constantly missing them. And I'm going to Finland that day, so the answer is no. Or rather the answer is yes, but the result will be no.
Ooh, playing hard to get Lucia? I imagine you sullenly looking at your fingernails while you said that.
As for the beer festival I went to one a few years ago and it was a bit rubbish. Standing round in a barn, scrummaging with lots of Beardhammer players in motheaten, washed-out and ill-fitting "1986 Stevenage Beer Festival" tee-shirts for ages for the right to get a pint of whatever hasn't sold out.
I would rather sit in comfort inside-or-ouside a comfy pub like the Queen's Larder or something.
Doesn't have to be Wednesday, if that's a deal-breaker for people. Thursday is good, too.
I'm amazed by people who can decide when they want to get tanked days in advance. For me, I don't know how far I want to go until I get started and get a feel for how the evening is progressing.

Well, today's been an eye-opener. I've discovered that two of the OTFers I'd have had down as seasoned beer festival-goers, Hof and PG, harbour all kinds of misguided preconceptions about the British Beer Festival. Get with the plan, grand-dads, it's not all chunky knit cardies and unhygienic facial hair these days. At least not on the men, ha ha!
Perhaps this would be an appropriate juncture to extend a formal invite to CAMRA's Kendal Beer Festival, Wed 8th to Sat 11th October, where you can sample the relaxed atmosphere of one of the UK's most cosmopolitan towns whilst enjoying a pint or three of fine cask-conditioned ale. And if the prospect of all that alcohol isn't enough, m'lovely wife will be manning (or should that be 'wo-manning'!) the food stall where a selection of traditional cheeses will be available.
PG, there aren't many of those kind of people at beer festivals nowadays and they are just harmless oddballs. You'll have zillions of ales to choose from on the wednesday evening session, plenty of food stands and a bit of room.
Beer festivals, eurgh. It's not just the people, their clothes and the beer I dislike, it's also the noise you get in those massive places with people banging glasses and shouting. Like someone chucking a trolley with a troll in it down a lift shaft.
I'm working late but could be persuaded to turn up sober at 10pm somewhere to greet intoxicated friends should the promise of laughter and refreshment be guaranteed to be prolonged.

You and me both, Reed. In fact, I find the idea of wanting to get drunk decidedly odd.
I'm working until tomorrow today*, so I'd imagine Wednesday will be recovery night. However, if I haven't fallen asleep at my desk in a small puddle of my own drool, I'll endeavour to pop along.
(*started at 8am, may not be finished until 2 or 3 am)
