A thoroughly good evening and a great pub recommendation. I can't remember who said it but the comment was made that it was the first OTFathon held in a pub with enough room. It certainly was in my experience.
Sorry I had to dash - I had to get the 11:30 train from Paddington. I owe Wyatt and GO a couple of beers each for various reasons. Next time chaps, I promise.
Good to meet for the first time:
Villain
Carcass
Carcass's mate
and the others - Taylor and Toro I hadn't seen for several year and it was great to see you again.
No hangover to speak of but I am very tired. Not much work being done at home. I was woken at 4am by the missus to report the electrics had tripped again. After much bleary detective work I sourced the problem to a combination of dodgy wiring and damp in our conservatory and had to unscrew a socket to disconnect it. One of the many presents from the previous owner. Moral of the tale for house buyers: get a full fucking survey done...
I thought the Schumacher Alt at the end was from a slightly stale barrel, but other than that the beers, especially the festival beers, were sensational.
Really good company too. (This means you, Lyra. Among others, like.)
Funny old decor, though, and weird area of London, and we could have done with less George Michael, and instead a bit of Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft and that. But I'll definitely be back, to drink around the mainstream, non-festival offerings a bit.
The ones I had were Füchschen Alt and Schumacher Alt from Düsseldorf, and Will Landbier and Klosterbräu Braunbier from the Bamberg area. I tried some Bolten Landbier as well.
Gruess Gott, all this is giving me a thirst. Alas I'm currently 200km away, but another soonest please. If ye all behave, there may even be a karaoke Deutsch-Ullans feingefuehl to look forward to. Schmecken immer...
Well it's a mate's birthday party tonight, so I'll be drinking and eating in the Shoreditch area from around 7pm. Not sure how he feels about random OTFers turning up pre-BSL though.
