I know it's going back a bit but isn't John Charles in the Juventus hall of fame or something? Also Joe Jordan, Graeme Souness, Ray Wilkins and Mark Hately all played in Italy.

A huge amount of British players have been playing for Finnish clubs. Just a couple to mention:

John Allen, ex-Chester and Mansfield. Several clubs in Finland and two in Sweden. Now a caretaker-manager at TPS Turku in the Finnish League.

Keith Armstrong, ex-Sunderland and Newport. One of the most successful head-coaches in the Finnish football. Now works as an assistant for the Finnish international team.

Juventus supporters voted Charles their greatest ever foreign player (ie, better than Platini).

Paul Murray wasn't much of a success at Beira Mar, but Stephen McPhee was. Both were signed by Mick Wadsworth in 2004 who was sacked after about 4 or 5 games in charge.

In 1990, as Leeds United played their first matches back in the First Division, Carl Shutt went on loan to Malmo to gain fitness. I don't know how he did.

Sigh. Saturday night, eh?

Indeed...

Anyone mentioned Tony Woodcock? Fabulous striker for Forest, got even better playing in Cologne.
