Two games to go in the Czech Gambrinus Liga and it's a pretty tight finish.

Top
1. Sparta (57)
--------------------
2. Slavia (56)
--------------------
3. Ostrava (49)
--------------------
4. Brno (49)
5. Teplice (47)

Top two into the Champions League with the 3rd placed team into the UEFA Cup.

Sparta looked to have the league sewn up but lost 2-0 at home to Brno last weekend. ex-Hammer Tomas Repka was sent off for throwing the ball into an opponent's face: http://fotbalzive.ct24.cz/video.asp?video_id=2886

Bottom
14. Bohemians 1905 (26)
-----------------------
15. Kladno (24)
16. Most (20)

SIAD Most are already relegated (incidentally they are the only club in the Gambrinus Liga to have an Englishman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Webster playing for them).

Hopefully Bohemians 1905 can get the points they need from their last couple of games, as it looks pretty certain that their doppleganger rivals Bohemians Strizkov will be promoted.

Slavia's last couple of games look marginally the easier.

Sparta
10/5 Banik (H)
17/5 Liberec (a)

Slavia
10/5 Ml. Boleslav (a)
17/5 Jablonec (H)

In other news, I see the new Eden has finally opened. From the pictures, it looks a very decent, modern ground. I presume Slavia are going to play the Jablonec game there? If so I would expect a very decent crowd, and if Sparta fuck up, it could be a hell of a party...

Latest scores;

Ml Boleslav 0-2 Slavia 68'
Sparta 1-2 Banik 64'
Bohemians 0-2 Teplice 68'
Kladno 1-0 Olomouc 68'

2.Liga result from earlier;
(Fake) Bohemians 1-1 Trinec

Dropped points againt one of the bottom teams, which gives some hope to the chasing pack. Their are still 5 games to go in this, so fingers crossed they can cock it up.

Eden was opened last week, Slavia played Oxford University in the first game. It was an "exhibition" match featuring players like Patrik Berger and Vladimir Smicer on Slavia's side.

Slavia won't be playing their last league game of the season there though apparently. The first "proper" match there will be a Czech Republic friendly in a couple of weeks time.

normally I would have a go, for you taking our name in vain/vein, but fuck it, its the only way any team called Sparta are going to win anything this year.

And that chance (crossing fingers) is pretty slim.

Slavia have the head-to-head on Sparta this season, so a draw at home to Jablonec on the final day and the title is theirs.
They should do it. Jablonec are exactly the side you would pick to play in such a game. The lowest placed side who are guarenteed safety. Perfect. Plus Slavia have already won at their ground earlier in the season, so drawing at home to them should be possible.

It's a shame the match will be held at Strahov. But I guess only fair to keep using the same home stadium for the last game as the previous 14.

Slavia have made a U-turn and are now going to play the match at Eden. Not sure how they'll feel if they lose the title on their home ground!

Sparta sacked their coach before the cup final and have their Club President in charge of their final game of the season.

Slavia won the Gambrinus Liga championship this weekend after drawing 2-2 with Jablonec. Whilst Sparta were beaten 4-3 at Slovan Liberec. Banik Ostrava finished 3rd and will be in the UEFA Cup.

Unfortunately "AFC" Bohemians 1905 lost against Banik and will now be playing in the second flight. "MK" Bohemians Strizkov in the Druha Liga won again this weekend and look almost certain to replace them.

Gah!

"MK" Bohemians played their first match in the top flight last weekend. I saw a great picture from their opening day defeat on the Gambrinus Liga website and felt I should share it with you all:
