But for the fact the whole issue has been sullied by one of the very poor "unofficial" Cup Final songs I would have suggested "Are you watching Leighton James?" for a banner. Had the FA not been so accomodating with our anthem I'd probably be planning something nasty about the queen.
In reality, I am not going to go to all the hassle of making a banner even if it wasn't sure to be confiscated by stewards given Wembley's strict rules on them.
Excitement having overidden my critical faculties I have now decided I like the Official Cup Final Song ( number 18 in today's official midweek chart, pop-pickers).
The other contributory factor may be the fact that one of my favourite players Kevin McNaughton is wearing a Danger Mouse costume throughout the video. This is for reasons unexplained but that I can only guess must be due to the fact that he already has an exclusive contract with another record label he cannot be seen to be breaking.
When was the last time two cities ( I presume Portsmouth is doing the same?) geared up for the FA Cup Final like it was a truly important expression of civic pride?;
The FA Cup Final, and at last, it's not only not between two of the big four, but one of the teams isn't even from the Premier League... and yet, given those criteria, I can't think of two teams I care less about than Cardiff and Partsmouth. Not in a 'I hate them' way, you understand, I just can't think of a reason to have positive or negative feelings towards either of them. Pity, really. Never mind.
It's worse for me. I kinda don't like either of them. The semis were rather disappointing from that perspective (as well as the poor quality of both games). I could really have enjoyed a West Brom-Barnsley final.
Even so, I'm definitely going to watch the game. For the first time for years.
