As mentioned on old OTF, Palace fans had the chance to vote for their new home kit for next season. They've opted for a move back to the sash!

I can't say it's surprising considering Palace's history of flipflopping with kits (and nicknames), though they should bring back the bumblebee cup final kit as their change strip.

I like it.

They've screwed it up something rotten with that sponsor and trim though, if the artist's impression is accurate. Although they were the originators, I'm not sure if the Brazil away kit wasn't done to death a long time ago as well.

Is this the new "Kit Gallery" thread then? I had forgotten to start one after the move.

Meanwhile FC United's members have voted to change the away kit away from the sash to an all blue number. as smart as the blue kit is, it aint the sash.

If this is the new Kit Gallery thread then this is going to be Alloa's new kit for next season (although it hasn't been officialy confrmed yet):

I do quite like it but I'm distressed by the big black panel that stops the hoops from going all the way around.

The big black panel is very much a modern phenomenon for fans of striped or hooped teams. I suppose the justification behind it is that it makes the numbers easier to read.

I've personally not had much of a problem with it since it emerged onto the Brighton shirts, but I suspect that has as much to do with its arrival coincided with the return of the right shade of blue. The sky-blue striped hell which preceded it made my soul hurt.

Dotmund, completely agree about the Albion's wrong shade of blue and effect on the soul. I am also not keen on the badge being anywhere other than on the left breast. And I prefered the original seagull badge.

I think the panel etc is also borne from the fact that there is a need to change something, anything, to coin it in from a new shirt etc. It's been a long time now, how many new bits can they think of? Unlike the away kit you can't just change the colours.

Watching Manchester United in an old style shirt vs Manchester City this season, a return to a similar kit (even with the sponsor) for a couple of seasons would go down a storm I reckon.

The Palace sash may be back then? I can see Nicky Chatterton and Rachid Harkouk now, and myself giving them stick in my unbroken child's voice in the 70s.

Didn't Manchester City have a white and red sash on a blue top as an away kit in the 70s? Could be wrong. I tend to feel a sash is plain wrong, largely because of palace.

This is making me very queasy.

I really hate pseudo- heraldic devices at the best of times. Message to Flavio: our first badge was a real coat-of-arms, if that's what you want bring it back. But of course that isn't what it's about at all. It's designed solely for our expected flood of international fans. It references British "tradition," the capital city, royalty(!), and longevity, all in a totally spurious fashion. Sadly, as a marketing device, it'll probably be very successful.

I fear for my club.
